How to Get Discount Auto Insurance

Reader’s Question:

With such financial crisis, I am looking forward to lowering my financial costs in auto insurance. What are the possible discounts available given by the insurance companies and how could I be eligible to get one?

Everyone looks forward to getting discount auto insurance, though not everyone is eligible to get one.

If you plan to insure two or more of your cars in the same company, then you get a chance to save and get discounts especially if you are just renewing it with the same company. Some states even require auto insurers to provide discounts for drivers who have “voluntarily” taken the defensive driving course and finished it. There are some cases that when you have been issued a traffic ticket, the court may order you to take the Defensive Driving program, and for this, you won’t be able to avail of an auto insurance discount if they were able to check that you only took the course because of a court order. Adding safety features (such as airbags, car alarms, automatic seatbelts and similar safety equipment) in your cars gives you great possibility to avail discounts. Factory-installed security devices usually qualifies you to a higher discount. Paying in full also qualifies you for a certain discount percentage and also saves you from extra finance charges. If ever you have a licensed daughter or son who plans to get his/her own insurance for his/her car, being a full-time student and having an average grade of “B” or even higher makes him/her eligible for discount. Being a good driver also counts, Rose, as different states offer discounts depending on how long you have been a safe driver on the road.

Make sure to ask your auto insurance agent if you meet the criteria for any of the given discounts that companies provide. Before making any commitment, make sure that you have been quoted right.
